Learn Laravel — 3 days

Laravel 13 for Beginners

Three intensive days of learning Laravel, with a week-long break in between to let it sink in. Together we build a mini training platform — a simplified version of Laravel Academy itself. By the end of day 3, your application is live.

Day 1: November 2, 2026 Day 2: November 3, 2026 Day 3: November 4, 2026 Almere Max. 8 participants €1599 p.p. incl. lunch all days

Platform live in production

"

We spend three days building one application — a mini version of Laravel Academy itself. That's no coincidence: once you understand how a training platform works, you understand Laravel. And by the end of day 3 you have something that actually works, not an exercise you throw away afterwards.

What you'll build

A mini training platform

Over three days we build a single project: a simplified version of Laravel Academy. Each day you add a new layer, so that by the end you have a fully working application.

Public course pages with modules
User registration and login
Enrolling in a course
Tracking progress per module
Confirmation email after enrollment
Profile page with photo upload

Day-by-day programme

Day 1 November 2, 2026 Laying the foundation
What we build today: We build the public side of the platform. By the end of day 1, there's a homepage with a course overview, per-course detail pages, and a working creation form.
09:00

Block 1 · Morning

Installation, structure & first route

We start with a fresh Laravel install and walk through the folder structure together. You learn how routing works, what controllers do, and how Blade templates fit together.

Block 2 · Morning

Database, migrations & Eloquent

We build the database for our platform: courses, modules, and lessons. You learn to write migrations, create models, and set up relationships with Eloquent.

Block 3 · Afternoon

Course pages & dynamic routes

We build the platform's public pages: a homepage with a course overview and a detail page per course.

Block 4 · Wrapping up day 1

Forms & creating a course

We build a form that lets an admin create a new course. You learn how POST routes work and how to validate data server-side.

POST routes Form Request validation Showing error messages CSRF protection Redirect after saving Flash messages

By the end of day 1, you have

A public training platform with real data, a course overview, detail pages, and a working creation form.

Course overview Detail pages Database relations Creation form
Consecutive next day Processing & practicing
What we do: The week between day 1 and day 2 is a deliberate choice. Participants process the material, practice at home, and come back to day 2 with real questions.

Homework · required

Build your own extension

Participants independently add a feature to the platform: an "about the trainer" page, a contact form, or an extra course.

Day 2 November 3, 2026 Users & interaction
What we build today: We add the full user side. By the end of day 2, participants can log in, enroll in a course, track progress, and receive a confirmation email.

Block 5 · Morning

Authentication — logging in & registering

We build authentication from scratch — without a package, so you understand what happens behind the scenes.

Block 6 · Morning

Enrolling in a course & tracking progress

Logged-in users can enroll in a course. We create a pivot table and add a progress tracker per module.

Email & confirmation messages

After enrolling in a course, the user receives a confirmation email via a Mailable and a queue.

Profile page & file uploads

Users can edit their profile details and upload a profile photo via Storage.

By the end of day 2, you have

A fully working user platform: login, course enrollment, progress tracking, confirmation email, and profile photo.

Authentication Enrollments Progress Email Profile photo
Consecutive next day Processing & practicing
What we do: There's also a week between day 2 and day 3. Day 2's material — auth, email, queues — is dense, and day 3's admin/deployment work builds directly on it. This week gives it room to land before we continue.

Homework · required

Test your own enrollment flow

Participants test their own enrollment and email flow with a second test account, and try making a small change to the profile page on their own.

Block 9 · Morning

Roles & authorization — the admin panel

We add an admin role. Only admins can create, edit, and delete courses, enforced via Gates and Policies.

By the end of day 3, you have

A fully working training platform live in production — with an admin panel, CRUD, basic tests, and SSL.

After this training you can

Build a complete Laravel platform

From installation to admin panel — including database relations, auth, and CRUD.

Let users log in and lock things down

Login, sessions, roles, middleware, and authorization without external packages.

Handle email and background jobs

Send Mailables via a queue so your application stays fast and reliable.

Write basic tests with Pest

Lock down critical functionality with feature tests that give you confidence.

Take your application live

Deployment to Laravel Cloud with SSL, queue workers, and domain setup.

Keep learning on your own

You understand Laravel's structure and conventions well enough that the docs start to make sense.

Who this is for

This is a great fit if you…

Have basic PHP knowledge (variables, functions, arrays)
Have made something with HTML and a form before
Know what a database is, but don't know Eloquent yet
Are done with tutorials that never actually explain why something works that way
Prefer learning in a small group over a room of 50 people
Want to invest three days to really understand Laravel

This is less suitable if you…

Have never written any PHP — start with the basics first
Already use Laravel actively in production — look at Laravel with AI instead
Expect to absorb everything in a single day
Are looking for a certification track with exams

Your trainer: Joram

I teach this training myself — no hired hand, no guest lecturer. I've been building Laravel applications in production for over ten years and know exactly where beginners get stuck. For three days, I'm there to answer questions — including about your own situation, not just the course material.
